Since the House and Senate passed separate versions of the farm bill, leaders from both sides of Congress have begun efforts to hammer out the final version that must be approved by each chamber, before being signed by the President. Please reaffirm your support for the Dairy Security Act (DSA), and tell your members of Congress that farmers need to have a new farm bill.
Just as important as voicing support for the DSA is voicing opposition to attempts that would dismantle the safety net for farmers by removing the stabilization program, ensuring dairy prices are lower for longer periods of time and providing cheap milk for processors. The House farm bill would strip the market stabilization component from the DSA and replace it with an inadequate margin protection plan that is more costly to dairy farms and taxpayers.
Please voice your support for the DSA by sending a quick message to your members of Congress today. Please let your legislators know that the DSA and a farm bill need to be passed this year.
NMPF, along with the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDB) and the United Dairy Industry Association (UDIA), will be headed to Phoenix from November 11 - 13 for the organizations' joint annual meeting. Taking place at the Arizona Biltmore, attendees will learn more about how the strategies and programs managed by dairy promotion and policy organizations work collaboratively to help the U.S. dairy industry change, innovate, and grow for a successful future for all dairy producers.
Information about the meeting is available on the NMPF website, including general information, fees and registration, and the final meeting program.
