Farm Bill Passes Senate; Conference Committee with House Up Next

The Senate passed its version of the Farm Bill by an overwhelming majority of 79 to 14 on December 14th. The next step will be a conference committee, where work will begin on sorting out the differences between the Senate and House versions of the Farm Bill. Congress returns in mid-January. NMPF was pleased with the Senate bill's numerous provisions that will benefit dairy farmers. NMPF Continues Push for Immigration Reform in 2008

Although 2007 came to a close with no resolution to the labor issues pressuring dairy farmers across the nation, NMPF continues to push hard for comprehensive immigration reform that would address the workforce needs of dairy producers.
