NMPF Applauds Farm Bill Veto Override by House, Senate
The following statement was issued by Jerry Kozak, President and CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, regarding the House and Senate’s final approval of the Farm Bill:
“We are pleased that the House and Senate have overridden the President’s veto of the Farm Bill. For the second time in a week, Congress has spoken strongly and clearly about the future direction of farm policy, by overriding yesterday’s veto and giving final approval to the 2008 Farm Bill. The House overrode the veto Wednesday by a vote of 316-108, and the Senate followed Thursday by approving the measure 82-13.
The National Milk Producers Federation, based in Arlington, VA, develops and carries out policies that advance the well being of dairy producers and the cooperatives they own. The members of NMPF’s 31 cooperatives produce the majority of the U.S. milk supply, making NMPF the voice of more than 40,000 dairy producers on Capitol Hill and with government agencies. |
