New Analysis Says CWT Boosts Milk Checks By 40 Cents
|
An independent economic analysis of the impact of Cooperatives Working Together has found that the historic dairy self-help program has raised farmers' prices by at least 40 cents per hundredweight since it began operations in 2003. The analysis was performed by Dr. Scott Brown of the University of Missouri, a nationally-known farm policy expert who is often called on by the U.S. Congress to assess agricultural economic issues. NMPF Asks USDA To Establish New Pricing Formulas For Class I, II Products

NMPF is asking the USDA to hold an emergency hearing on a proposal to adjust the Federal Milk Marketing Order pricing formulas for Classes I and II. Representatives from the IDairy coalition officially announced the National FAIR system as the database for manageing dairy identification information at World Dairy Expo. During the press conference, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the six organizations naming National FAIR as IDairy's choice to confidentially house dairy and livestock identification data in compliance with the upcoming national animal identification system.
